Taos County approves $80,000 DWI grant amendment to expand prevention and treatment programs

The Taos County Commission approved DWI grant amendment No. 26-D-G-30 to increase revenue and expense by $80,000 to support DWI prevention, treatment, alternative sentencing and program administration.
Norma Jean Romero, the county DWI director, outlined program components that the $80,000 will support, including community wellness and outreach, licensed outpatient and jail-based treatment, alternative-sentencing support (screening, monitoring, ignition interlock examples) and program administration and evaluation. The funding must support licensed providers and follow state rules for court-ordered domestic-violence treatment when applicable.
A motion to approve the amendment was made, seconded and approved by roll call.
