Board approves construction documents for RD Campbell Junior High renovation (BG 26108)
Summary
The Clark County school board approved construction documents for RD Campbell Junior High School (BG 26108), clearing the way for HVAC replacement, window and ceiling work, door/hardware upgrades and alternate bid items. The board voted 5-0 to approve the documents and staff will send drawings to Codell for bidding.
The Clark County Public Schools Board on Jan. 30 approved construction documents for the renovation of RD Campbell Junior High School, BG Number 26108, following a presentation detailing HVAC, storefront window, ceiling and door work. The board voted 5-0 to approve the documents.
A presenter for the project described an HVAC replacement across classroom units and said the district will replace most classroom units with similar systems rather than switching to an alternative such as geothermal. The package also includes alternates for storefront window replacement in the H Wing, ceiling replacement in band, orchestra and media-center areas, and replacement of about 30 interior doors and associated new hardware to align with recent student-safety measures.
Board members asked clarifying questions about the door scope and whether any exterior doors were included; the presenter said most work is interior to H Wing, with one exterior door at the media center and a storefront exit to be replaced. Staff said drawings will be submitted to Codell this week so the agency can break the project into bid packages (roofing, HVAC, electrical, etc.), with bids expected roughly a month after posting.
The motion to approve the construction documents was made by Mr. Dorsey, seconded by Mr. Kaiser, and passed 5-0. Next steps include finalizing bid packaging with Codell and returning to the board for bid approvals when contracts are received.
