Deputy Director Billy Graver and Director Mary Garnas told the board the recommended changes follow implementation of a new land‑records management system and a recent review of subscription and occasional‑use access. Administration recommended a small increase in monthly subscriber fees and the introduction of a daily, one‑time access option for occasional users; staff said a county technology fund, partly sustained by recorder fees, helped pay for the new system and its maintenance.
Graver said the office compared practices with other counties and the recommendation is intended to better align cost recovery with ongoing maintenance expenses. The presentation also noted statutory changes requiring minor adjustments to initial and renewal fees for childcare licensing.
Commissioners asked for no additional public testimony at the hearing. The board voted by voice to close the hearing and then moved to approve the resolution authorizing the fee changes. The motion carried.
Next steps: staff will finalize fee schedules and implementation details and make the new fee information available to the public.
