Northampton County updates opioid settlement plan after funding increase to about $1.4 million

The Northampton County Board of Commissioners approved an update to its opioid-settlement resolution after staff said the county’s allocation increased from about $741,000 to $1,400,000.
County Manager Phillips said the adjustment does not change program strategies but ensures the amount in the county’s portal submission matches the current funding level. He outlined five strategies the county will use: collaborative strategic planning; early intervention; naloxone distribution; a post-overdose response team; and syringe-service programming. He also said Megan Vick of the health department chairs the local oversight board for the funds.
The manager asked commissioners to approve the revised resolution so staff could upload the corrected figures and supporting documents to the state-required portal. Commissioners moved and approved the resolution during the meeting.
Staff noted that opioid-settlement funding is distributed according to the state’s timeline and that funds will continue to be expended (manager said distribution profiles run through 2039).
