Jacobs reported the system comprises 21 cameras at 14 locations and that the vendor completed installation over two days in January. "All the cameras installed, 100% operating efficiency, around 01/04/2024," he said. Officials said the cameras provide continuous coverage in higher-crime corridors and aid both deterrence and investigations.
Speakers noted two armed robberies in 2024 at locations covered by cameras and said investigations remain open. Law-enforcement presenters said the visible presence of cameras has reduced repeat incidents at previously targeted spots and that community members frequently call to note the cameras' presence.
The board thanked the sheriff's office for the work and asked staff and law enforcement to continue monitoring system performance and evidence-handling protocols. No formal policy change was proposed during the report; commissioners voiced appreciation for the program's rollout and requested follow-up metrics in a future briefing.
