The San Francisco Board of Appeals on Jan. 28 reelected John Trezvino as president and chose Commissioner Rebecca Saroyan as vice president, both by unanimous voice votes. The board then adopted the minutes from its Jan. 14 meeting by a 4–0 vote.
The meeting began with staff outlining procedures for public participation, timing rules for appellants and members of the public, and the board’s broadcasting and closed‑captioning arrangements. Executive Director Julie Lamar reminded members and attendees that, because of a current vacancy, three affirmative votes are required for the board to grant an appeal or to modify a permit or determination.
The board opened a special, non‑decision agenda item to solicit public input on the board’s FY27–28 budget priorities under Administrative Code section 3.3(b)(1). No members of the public addressed that item at the hearing; board members said a future meeting in February will include opportunities for more substantive discussion and public comment. Vice President Saroyan asked for clarification about surcharge estimates and other procedural details and was directed to follow up with staff ahead of the next meeting.
The board’s routine housekeeping business — officer elections and adoption of minutes — took only a short time and the meeting moved on to contested appeals scheduled for the evening.
