Simi Valley council appoints six to Council on Aging executive board

The Simi Valley City Council on Jan. 27 appointed six people to the Council on Aging executive board after staff presented nominees following a recruitment period.
Community Services Manager Kimberly Post reported recruitment ran from Oct. 13 to Nov. 14, with 10 applicants considered by the Council on Aging membership. At the council meeting, Post introduced six nominees and said the appointments include one partial term starting Feb. 1, 2026 and ending Jan. 31, 2027, plus five two-year terms ending Jan. 31, 2028.
The nominees presented for council approval were: Deborah Lane, Nancy Garcia, David Lewis, Mark Luker, Zimuna Ramnath and Candice Score. A council member moved to appoint the slate; the motion was seconded and the council approved the appointments unanimously.
The Council on Aging executive board serves in an advisory capacity to the City Council on senior-related matters and supports senior programs and fundraising; staff said they are available to answer follow-up questions about duties and the election process.
What’s next: Appointees will assume their terms as scheduled; staff will continue to assist with onboarding and role orientation for board members.
