Sheriff's deputy reports lowest jail population in a decade; staff additions and women's center progress noted

Becker said Patrick Milan is expected to return to road duty around May 1 and that Trevor Young started work the day before the meeting.
Becker also reported progress on the planned women's center, noting the commission has received quotes for a gate and that a local small business (Chad Friend) provided the lowest local estimate. He credited programs aimed at reducing recidivism for contributing to lower jail counts but said he did not expect the low level to necessarily be permanent.
Commissioners asked staffing and operations questions; Becker said staff would continue to monitor inmate counts and move forward with operational changes as the women's center becomes available.
