Personnel actions approved included hiring Billy Mays as a part‑time IT employee (motion by Tracy, second by Dale) and rehiring Chandler Harden and Ellie Ford as part‑time dispatchers (motion carried; ayes recorded). The board gave preliminary, conditional approval for the highway department to fill one mechanic and one heavy equipment operator, with final approval contingent on named candidates appearing on a formal 1‑44 request at the next meeting.
EMA Director Wade Balmots received permission to apply for two grants (a Rumpke community giving grant and a CSX railroad grant) to purchase volunteer safety equipment; presenters said no county match was required.
On a separate, more substantive agenda item, commissioners heard a lengthy presentation from Connection Cafe leaders about their syringe service program. Because County Health Officer Dr. Wayne White has not renewed an emergency declaration referenced by the program, the board requested a meeting with Dr. White and asked Connection Cafe to provide program‑level data before taking any policy action.
