Susquehanna County commissioners approve routine consent items, authorize housing authority to seek bridge funds

Commissioner McNamara moved, and Commissioner Darrow seconded, to approve a resolution described in the agenda as authorizing the Susquehanna County Housing Redevelopment Authority to file an application for multimodal transportation funds for the Fork sale over Silver Creek Bridge; the board approved the resolution by voice vote. On personnel matters the board accepted the resignation of Jason Hatton (Case Worker 2); ratified the transfer of Justin Sprout to a full-time, nonunion position as Chief County Detective at $33.51 per hour effective Jan. 8; and ratified the appointment of Todd Hinkley of New Milford to a part‑time nonunion Assistant District Attorney position with an annual salary listed as $75,000 “based on duties and experience.” Each personnel action was moved, seconded and approved by voice vote.
The board set new fees in the Assessment Department for printing a property record card at $1 for the first card and 50¢ per page thereafter, and approved a proclamation/finding recognizing February as Black History Month in Susquehanna County. During a briefing on emergency-declaration criteria for winter events a speaker explained state thresholds cited in the record (a historical snowfall threshold described as greater than 24 inches, statewide damage threshold cited as $24,000,000 and a county threshold cited as $177,000), concluding the county was unlikely to qualify under those measures.
