Aransas County schedules public meetings as countywide drainage study nears next phase

Jake Powell of Pape Dawson updated the Commissioners Court on the Aransas Countywide drainage study and related CDBG MIT-MOD grant (contract 24-065-128-E986), saying the team has completed most of the existing-conditions analysis and is starting proposed-condition modeling. Powell noted the study is also addressing coastal surge impacts and environmental and cultural constraints that could affect project scope or cost.
Powell said four public meetings will be held next week (two days, daytime and evening sessions) and that meeting materials have been posted online in English, with Spanish, Vietnamese and Tagalog translations forthcoming. The team will display large mapping exhibits at the meetings and provide a QR-based online tool so residents can mark properties where they have seen flooding and submit comments.
County staff confirmed the public postings, social media notices and a plan to offer in-person translation support. Powell said the technical committee continues monthly workshops and that after public feedback the project team will prioritize candidate projects for design and funding.
The presentation did not ask the court for additional funding at this meeting; staff described the step as part of an ongoing planning process before project prioritization and construction proposals.
