Oconee County Rescue Squad Advisory Commission elects new chair, vice chair and secretary

Mister Land was elected chair of the Oconee County Rescue Squad Advisory Commission on Jan. 29 after a nomination and voice vote that commissioners described as unanimous, recorded as "Unanimous. 6 0." Commissioners also nominated and approved Steve Zahn as vice chair and Scott as secretary.
The meeting opened with nominations for leadership posts. A nomination for "commissioner Lina" was placed on the floor and seconded before the voice vote confirmed Land as chair. Following the chair election, commissioners moved and approved a vice chair nomination for Steve Zahn and later approved Scott to serve as secretary after nominations and a second.
Beyond leadership elections, commissioners approved the minutes from the Nov. 13, 2025 meeting by motion and voice vote. Commissioners also took care of routine committee appointments: Brady and Steve Zahn were approved to continue on the countywide radio committee; Scott and Amber were assigned to the incentive committee; O’Hare and Jackman joined the SOG committee; and Jackman and Christie were named to the training committee.
The commission voted to require committees to meet at least quarterly and discussed consolidating the incentive committee with a new budget and finance function (see related coverage). The meeting closed after regional reports and an announcement on staffing and vehicles.
