Commissioners appoint Dr. Caitlin McArthur to Alamance County Board of Health

Alamance County commissioners voted unanimously to appoint Dr. Caitlin McArthur to the county Board of Health to fill an unexpired term as the public representative.
Tony (staff presenter) told the board three applications were received — Paul Brewer; Andrew Y. Younger; and Caitlin McArthur — and that the Board of Health, led by Commissioner Allen and Board of Health Chair Richard Blanchard, interviewed the candidates and recommended Dr. McArthur.
Commissioners praised McArthur’s credentials; one commissioner noted her BA, BS, MSN and Doctor of Nursing credentials and cited prior work at the Guilford County Health Department and experience serving expecting mothers. “Out of everybody, because of her history and her work experience and just the interview, she was the best choice,” a commissioner said.
A motion to appoint McArthur passed by voice vote with no opposition.
Next steps: staff and the Board of Health will process formal appointment paperwork and notify the new member of meeting schedules.
