Brentwood commission forms parade committee, lays out spring and summer events

Director Nick Lawrence listed scheduled events: an Easter egg hunt at the community center on April 4 with a 9 a.m. kickoff; a Mother’s Day brunch planned for May 9 from 9 to 11 a.m.; and the Brentwood Gathering on April 17 (6–8 p.m.) at Crowley Falls barn where the department intends to promote its new Parks & Recreation name and programming.
Members discussed outreach strategies to boost participation, including contacting nearby developers and established community groups (3 Ponds, Riverrun) and recruiting volunteers from local clubs, businesses and civic organizations. The commission moved and voted unanimously to create a parade committee; appointments will be made at the next meeting after an advertising period.
Members suggested creating a standing subcommittee to keep project work off the monthly agenda and recommended a chair from within the commission be assigned when the committee is formed. The parade committee will coordinate with the historical society and other local partners on programming and logistics.
