Paramount business owner asks for more green‑curb parking after painting error

Business owner Hamid Kahal addressed the Jan. 27 council to ask why a green curb on Alondra Boulevard was reduced to a single space, leaving lunchtime customers without convenient parking. He said the original request had sought a longer green curb from his driveway to the nearby business and that the current one‑space designation is insufficient.
"This doesn't make sense that there is only 1 car painted in green," Kahal said, noting lunchtime demand. Public Works staff told the council crews had initially painted the full length in error, but the Public Works Commission recommended keeping a single green space to prevent a frequently parked trailer from blocking customer parking. Staff said the sign placement can be corrected immediately and the owner may submit a new application to extend the green curb.
Council and staff agreed the signage fix is straightforward and that the owner can pursue a formal request if he wants a longer green zone; no ordinance change or immediate vote occurred.
