Board approves new pharmacy licenses and relocations; internship and relocation items cleared

After applicant presentations and question-and-answer about layout, security and staffing, motions to approve Fairhaven Pharmacy LLC (351 Grand Avenue) and Fairhaven Community Health Clinic Inc., DBA Grand Pharmacy (374 Grand Avenue) were seconded and carried by voice vote. The commission also approved Wasaf LLC and other new-license requests as presented.
The board approved the relocation of CSI Pharmacy from 281 Hazard Avenue, Winfield, to 100 Corporate Drive, Suite 111, Windsor, after the applicant described an alarmed 8,800-square-foot premises with controlled access and plans for secure transport of controlled substances during the move. The commission approved a remodel for Nutmeg Pharmacy and other routine license changes.
The board heard and approved an internship application from Alicia Yovanic, who described prior hospital and retail practice in Jamaica and plans to intern at CVS with a named preceptor.
Commissioners and staff reiterated routine security and reporting expectations — for example, ensuring controlled-substance inventory is accompanied by pharmacy-manager oversight during transport and calibrating automated counting machines — while approving the applications.
What’s next: Approved licensees will proceed with local execution of their plans and the department will confirm compliance with the facilities and security requirements before or shortly after openings.
