The City Council voted on Aug. 5 to confirm the Auto Center Business Improvement District (BID) annual report and adopt staff’s resolution to levy assessments for the upcoming fiscal year.
Planning/finance staff reported the BID was formed in July 2011 and serves to promote the auto center, maintain an electronic display sign, and provide advertising and district services. Staff said each business in the district is assessed $6,100 per year, collected through the BID process, and that there were no proposed boundary or assessment changes for the coming year. The city also has a related five‑year funding agreement adopted in September 2023 that provides the Auto Center a credit of $100,000 per year in exchange for 15% of the electronic sign’s advertising time; that agreement runs through September 2028.
Councilmember Conder praised the Auto Dealers Association and the drought‑tolerant landscaping improvements at the auto center, moved to approve staff recommendations and the council recorded the motion as unanimous.
Staff will proceed to adopt the resolution confirming the annual report and levy assessments as presented and set any required public‑hearing steps for protests under the Streets and Highways Code.
