Commission approves bids for street work, park building and solid-waste equipment totaling several million dollars

Runge also described a design-build procurement (Project 2026-05) for the Memorial Park Baseball Building, which includes a player development center, new restrooms and a concession stand. The total design-build construction budget is $1.2 million; the city has budgeted about $1.0 million, with the remaining funds expected from donations, grants and the local baseball association. Commissioners authorized the competitive sealed proposal process with proposals due Feb. 10, 2026.
On equipment, the commission approved awarding bid 2026-11 to Sanitation Products Inc. for five 20-yard and five 30-yard roll-off boxes for $77,470 (budgeted). The commission also approved awarding bid 2026-12 for a new semi tractor to I State Truck Center for $163,324; because the city budgeted $160,000, the additional $3,324 will come from reserves. Solid-waste staff explained fleet needs tied to daily runs to the pier.
All items were approved by roll-call votes during the meeting. Staff said work and procurement steps will follow state bid law and the city's procurement processes.
