Medina Carranza told the Riverside City Council on Dec. 2 that the Downtown Partnership (RDP) seeks council confirmation to continue operations and programming for calendar year 2026, offering services including business promotion, ambassadors, safety monitoring and event support.
In a slide-backed presentation, Carranza described the RDP board and membership structure, listed 2025 benefits (social-media toolkits, welcome packages for new businesses, ambassador staffing and monthly professional lunches) and said the organization plans to continue restaurants and fashion-show programming and to expand social-media outreach in 2026. The presentation included an estimated $60,000 in revenue from membership and other activities for 2025.
Carranza summarized governance rules for the RDP (board composition, terms and voting membership) and said the group will continue to coordinate with city parks and recreation staff. She closed by asking the council to approve continuation for calendar year 2026 and answered questions from council members.
No formal council vote on RDP funding or a contract was recorded in the Dec. 2 session transcript; the item was presented for council consideration and the presenters invited questions and follow-up.
What happens next: The Downtown Partnership presentation is on the council record for consideration; if the council takes formal action it will be recorded in a subsequent meeting or in a staff report.
