Commerce City council restores individual appointment authority for commissions

The City Council unanimously approved Resolution 26 on Jan. 27 to update the city’s appointment process for commissions, committees and boards.
City Manager explained staff discovered a 2014 resolution that required council consent for appointments; the proposed change would return the process to the prior practice under which each councilmember may appoint commission members without full council approval. City Manager said the newer resolution would replace the 2014 policy to match historical practice.
Councilmember (speaker 4) asked for clarification and then moved to approve the resolution; the council voted in favor and the motion passed.
