The Bend‑LaPine board approved Resolution 2007 to swap two surplus modular classrooms (Buckingham Elementary and LaPine Middle School) with Heart of Oregon, which has two modulars at Bend Tech Academy. The motion passed without recorded opposition.
The Bend‑LaPine Administrative SD 1 Board of Directors voted Jan. 27 to accept Resolution 2007, authorizing an exchange of district modular classrooms with the nonprofit Heart of Oregon.
Paul Dean, chief operating officer, told the board that the district had identified two surplus modular classrooms—one at Buckingham Elementary and one at LaPine Middle School—and proposed exchanging them for two modular units Heart of Oregon currently has at Bend Tech Academy. ‘‘Bend‑LaPine Schools has determined that there are surplus modulars… and we would like to propose an exchange of those modular classrooms with Heart of Oregon,’’ Dean said.
Director Amy Tatum moved to accept Resolution 2007; Director Jen Lynch seconded. The board called for a vote and members responded in the affirmative. Chair Marcus Grama thanked Mr. Dean and the board moved on to the scheduled work session.
The board did not record a roll‑call tally during the public motion, but the chair announced the motion as passed. Administration said it would return draft documents to the board in the March packet for final review and public comment as needed.
