Councilmember Alge noted the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz and Councilmember Martinez emphasized that the resolution should also recognize other groups targeted by the Nazi regime.
Mayor Coleman affirmed that the resolution recognizes the six million Jewish victims and reiterates the council's commitment to stand against antisemitism and all forms of hate. The clerk recorded a unanimous vote.
The resolution encourages community remembrance and education and directs the city to observe Jan. 27, 2026, as Holocaust Remembrance Day.
