Farmington Hills Council approves planning for new activity center to replace Caustic Activity Center

City Council has approved moving forward with planning for a new standalone activity center to replace the Caustic Activity Center, according to Ellen Schnacko, Director of Special Services for Farmington Hills.
"Our top priority is keeping senior adults and all caustic users informed, involved, and truly heard every step of the way," Schnacko said, describing early design and planning work for a modern facility to serve adults 50 and better. She said the new center is planned to sit on the campus of the Hawk and that the current Caustic Activity Center — originally built in 1963 — will remain open and fully operational throughout planning and construction.
Schnacko encouraged residents to share feedback at public meetings, through the Commission on Aging, and online at fhgov.com/causticinput. The city did not provide a construction timeline, estimated cost, or an exact relocation date during the announcement.
Next steps include early designs and additional public engagement opportunities as the city advances planning.
