The Peaslee Building Committee received a project update on Jan. 27 from the owner’s project manager and design team, who said the school’s structural frame is generally sound but most building systems do not meet current code and MSBA (Massachusetts School Building Authority) space requirements.
The OPM and designer said consultants completed test borings (30–50 feet), soils and infiltration work, and wetland flagging in December. “Good news, our structural engineer marked your building. It's a great building,” the designer said, while adding that electrical, mechanical, thermal envelope, fire protection and plumbing systems are obsolete and “will have to be replaced.”
