Mitchell County supervisors received an update on ISAC wellness program options and incentives during the Jan. 27 meeting.
A presenter outlined incentives available through ISAC: $20 per contract to support employee incentives, a potential premium discount (noting the county had received a 5% discount historically and a 3% discount for FY25), and an estimated $29,512 in county savings tied to participation. The presenter also described changes to the employee assistance program (EAP), including up to six to eight counseling sessions and a $25 incentive for completing new mental-health training.
Supervisors discussed the wellness committee’s workload and suggested non-monetary or limited monetary recognition for committee members — for example, offering a day off — because participation requires substantial staff time and reminders. The county noted a prior coordinator position had been eliminated about 10 years prior; supervisors asked staff to place the wellness topic and gross wage information on a future agenda so the board can consider options together.
Next steps: staff were asked to put the item on a future agenda and to provide spreadsheeted wage and program participation figures to support decision-making.
