Public works Director Tiger Mann explained the parcel was cleared after demolition and that the RFP called for minimal, gravel surfaced parking without lighting, retaining most trees where possible. Mann said the lease would allow termination on six months’ notice so that future town development could proceed if needed. Commissioners said the proposal fits the town’s Plan of Conservation and Development goals to provide off-street parking downtown, and the commission approved the referral to town council for final action.
The commission’s recommendation is advisory; final lease approval will be by town council per statute.
