Campus High administration told the board that prom will take place April 18 at Mark Arts and that after‑prom programming will be a supervised lock‑in at the Wichita Sports Forum.
Principal Shane Seeley said the after‑prom will be run by parents and volunteers, with the school endorsing and providing limited oversight. Rob Arneson, director of the Haysville Activity Center, said the after‑prom will use the entire Wichita Sports Forum facility from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. and currently has about 25–30 volunteers with a target of up to 40.
Students who attend prom (or their dates) may also attend after‑prom for a $15 fee; prom tickets remain $25, so attending both events costs $40. Organizers said students will be responsible for transportation between venues and that staff will call parents if a student on the registered list does not show up by 11 p.m.
Arneson described planned food, games, prizes and a morning breakfast; the event is intended as a supervised, positive alternative for students after prom. Officials asked for community donations and said contributors can contact the activity center for sponsorship levels and donation instructions.
What’s next: organizers will continue to recruit volunteers and raise funds for prizes and logistics; parents and community members interested in donating were given contact information at the Haysville Activity Center.
