The Haysville Education Foundation reported a record fundraising haul of $57,000 from its annual Barn Bash, foundation leaders told the Haysville school board Monday.
Jessica Atherton, vice president of the foundation, said the event raised $57,000 in total: $3,800 from direct donations, $3,700 from a Fund‑In‑Need appeal, $8,500 from the live auction and about $41,000 from sponsorships and other activities. Board members and administration praised volunteers and the campus barbecue team for stepping in when a vendor canceled.
Adia and Sarah Lopez summarized operational changes that helped increase revenue, including expanded sponsorship tiers, enhanced outreach via social channels, added on‑site engagement (photo booth, best‑dressed contests) and targeted auction items. The foundation plans to broaden fundraising beyond the single annual event and to streamline the teacher grant application process by moving toward a digital application to make review and distribution faster.
"This was the most successful event for fundraising that we've had in the existence of the foundation," Atherton said. Adia credited outreach and marketing adjustments for boosting attendance and sponsorship participation.
Next steps: the foundation will work with district staff to set application timelines for teacher grants and announce when grant applications open; funding is expected to be distributed in 2026, the foundation said.
