Marquetta Bridal appeared before the Public Safety and Legal Administration Committee on Jan. 27 after a mayoral communication appointing her as city attorney. Bridal introduced senior members of the law department, thanked staff and said she was honored to accept the mayor’s appointment and hoped for full council confirmation.
Bridal described the law department as a “deep and strong bench” and outlined a commitment to partner with councilmembers and staff across divisions. She introduced Deputy Chief Sher Bailey, Deputy City Attorney Kimberly Patrick (Aviation), George Prothro (litigation), Cheryl Ringer and other senior attorneys and noted their years of service.
The committee recorded a favorable vote on the communication by unanimous roll call (4‑0). Bridal and staff invited questions and said the department will work to provide additional, non‑privileged reporting on outside‑counsel results and community legal outreach.
Quoted: "I am so honored to accept the mayor's appointment and hopefully the full council's confirmation," Bridal said.
