Council approves multiple plats, permits and consent items; several public hearings opened and closed

At its Jan. 27, 2026 meeting the Omaha City Council approved a series of land-use and administrative items, adopted consent business and handled several public hearings.

On specific votes: the council approved a Class I liquor-license name change for Staybridge Suites Omaha West (applicant Aaron Jones), approved the preliminary plat for Deer Creek Plaza at 120th and Military (applicant Tadros Development LLC), and approved a package of rezoning and plat actions for Pine Creek Woods (items 9–13) that included rezoning from AG and R5 to R4/R6, an MCC overlay amendment, final plat approval and a subdivision agreement. The council also granted a special-use permit to allow automotive sales at 5122 North 90th Street.

The consent agenda (items 15–25) was adopted as presented. Several batches of public hearings (items 26–52; items 53–54) were opened and closed with no speakers at the meeting. The council also opened a hearing on the El Toro Tax Increment Financing redevelopment agreement, where planners and the developer described the project and a resident speaker raised concerns about increased impermeable surfaces.

Most recorded motions carried by unanimous votes where roll call is shown; where the transcript records votes, vote results were "motion passed 5 to 0." No contested final ordinance adoptions or rejections were recorded at this meeting beyond the procurement appeal later referred for rebid.

Several other hearings were held for future action items, and the council adjourned at 2:38 p.m.
