Scottsburg board approves routine claims and $50/month cell stipend for payroll clerk

At its Jan. 28 meeting, the Scottsburg City Board of Public Works and Safety approved routine claims and authorized a monthly cell phone stipend for the payroll clerk.
Staff presented claims for payment and the board approved them by motion and unanimous 'aye' vote. Later, staff requested approval for a cell phone stipend for payroll clerk Marita Harden. "So this will begin in February. It'll be $50 a month," the presenter said. The board moved and seconded the stipend request and approved it by voice vote.
The stipend is intended to compensate the payroll clerk for work-related cell phone use; staff said the clerk had not previously received a stipend. The board recorded the motion and approval during the meeting; staff will implement the stipend beginning in February and reflect it in payroll processing.
