Board authorizes mayor to sign 3‑year Community Showcase banner agreement

At its Jan. 28 meeting, the Scottsburg City Board of Public Works and Safety voted to allow the mayor to sign a three‑year agreement with CGI Community Showcase Banners for additional banner placements around town.
An unidentified city presenter described the program and asked for the board’s permission to allow the mayor to sign. "This is a 3 year agreement that we are going to be going into with them," the presenter said, adding that the banners are funded by outside sponsorships and the company provides hardware and finds a local contractor to install them. The agreement would permit the company to use 25 additional city poles for banners.
Tom Lewis made the motion to allow the mayor to sign and the motion was seconded; the board recorded an 'aye' vote. The presenter said the program helps promote local businesses and that the existing banner locations would receive new banners as part of the arrangement.
The agreement was authorized at the meeting; city staff will arrange signature by the mayor and coordinate pole usage and installation details with CGI Community Showcase Banners.
