The Fayetteville nominating committee confirmed Caroline for the University of Arkansas representative seat on the Urban Forestry Advisory Board by voice vote at its Dec. 10 meeting. Council members responded "Aye" when the motion was called.
Caroline, who said she completed the city’s community-forester training and participates in invasive‑species removal and lake cleanups, described a background in ecology and outreach. Council members praised her forestry training and recommended her appointment for the U of A slot.
During the session several urban forestry applicants emphasized the importance of tree establishment, species selection for urban conditions, and long‑term maintenance. One applicant with reforestation contracting experience noted that front‑end establishment and species choice are critical for long‑term survival in urban settings; others raised invasive‑species control and hydrological mapping as priorities.
Council members instructed the city clerk’s office to notify confirmed applicants after the Council acts on the committee’s recommendations. The committee’s selections will be presented to the full City Council on Tuesday; the council meeting will finalize appointments.
