Ryan Hale said the program is designed to be accessible: "We use ebikes really as a tool. We're not here to crush big miles...if you haven't ridden a bike in years, that's okay," he said, adding the workshop includes orientation, a van and trailer for support and a "challenge by choice" policy for participants.
The draft schedule shows an 8:30 a.m. start, project tours around Fayetteville and a shuttle up to Rogers and Bentonville to observe peer-city infrastructure, concluding with a debrief and dinner around 7:30 p.m. Staff said the event will be locally hosted to avoid large travel costs and that communications and a draft agenda will be circulated to council members ahead of the final sign‑up.
Council members discussed availability, safety and the time commitment required; staff said there are 13 participant seats and emphasized safety protocols and a beginner‑friendly e‑bike experience. The workshop is currently being scheduled for Nov. 7 (moved from Nov. 6 for calendar reasons), and staff agreed to circulate the draft agenda and FAQ.
