The council reviewed a rezoning request (RZN 2025-47) to change roughly 26.7 acres near Marks Mill Lane from residential zoning to P-1 institutional for a prospective school site. Development Services staff said the site is largely undeveloped, heavily treed, with slopes around 20% in places.
Staff noted the planning commission recommended approval by a 7–1 vote with one recusal and that the school district has submitted a large-scale development application that includes more detailed plans. Council members requested additional materials — a topo map, the traffic study, geotechnical boring reports and a timeline from the school district about any urgency in acquiring the site — and asked staff to coordinate a site tour if the district will permit it.
Next steps: Staff will supply requested documents ahead of next week’s meeting and will coordinate with the school district regarding site access for a tour and any scheduling constraints tied to the district’s realignment plans.
