City staff told commissioners that phase 1 of the citywide historic resources survey — the fieldwork portion undertaken by consultant Post Oak Preservation Solutions — is complete. "The survey work, the field work, the driving around, running around, looking at things, that is complete," staff said, and added that the consultant is compiling photos and survey forms into a package to deliver as a draft to the Arkansas preservation office in April.
Staff said this is the City of Fayetteville's first citywide survey of historic properties and that phase 1 intentionally focused on Southeast Fayetteville because that area has been underrepresented in previous inventory work. The staff member said the consultant made two site visits and that work progressed quickly thanks to favorable weather.
Kylie has submitted a grant application to continue survey work in and around downtown and southwest Fayetteville; staff said award notifications are expected in March. No formal action was taken; the commission will review draft survey materials when they arrive.
