City HR staff presented results of an anonymous employee climate survey conducted Oct.–Dec. 2025 that drew 956 responses, about 35% of the workforce. Survey leader Miss Stevens told commissioners the strongest findings were employees' pride in their work and their immediate teams; 80% of respondents said they were proud to work for Augusta Richmond County and 72% expected to stay for two more years.
Stevens said the survey also showed persistent concerns about compensation: 63% disagreed with the statement that they are fairly compensated for their work. Responses fell as questions moved from immediate supervisors toward department leadership, the city administrator and the commission, indicating less satisfaction the further employees sit from frontline supervision. Many open-ended comments called for clearer communication, more visible leadership and pay adjustments.
Administrator Allen and HR staff outlined follow-up steps including building better communications channels (employee newsletters, site visits and targeted supervisor training), continuing a compensation study already underway, and consideration of regularly scheduled cost-of-living adjustments (COLA) in future budgets. Commissioners accepted the survey results as information and encouraged staff to continue work on communication and compensation issues.
