Drug task force reports large drug and currency seizures, approves forfeiture splits in two cases

The monthly financial summary for the period ending Sept. 30 showed a combined total of $241,504 in identified funding sources, with $56,559 from the drug crime fund, $85,317 from the prosecuting coordinator’s office and $48,392 tied to Gulf Coast Hyatt, and a non-allowed portion of $20,003.24.
On case dispositions, the reporter presented DTF 249, State of Arkansas v. Shelby Sullivan, stemming from a June 30 search that turned up 95 fentanyl pills and $3,135 in cash. The report recommended that 15 percent of the net recovery be allocated to the task force and that the remaining balance be split based on current staffing. Jay Campbell moved to approve the recommendation; a second was recorded and the motion proceeded.
The group also considered DTF 25218, State of Arkansas v. Diego Gallardo, from a June 7 search. The report listed 20.12 grams of cocaine, 12.84 grams of kratom, an SKS-style rifle, a semi-automatic handgun, a revolver and $718 in currency. The task force recommended the same 15 percent allocation to the unit with the remainder split by staffing; members moved and seconded the recommendation.
The financial presenter noted that Hyatt and other listed programs had sufficient funding to continue operations and that the task force’s websites are active.
