Planning Commission OKs WMCD project to pipe 1.79 miles of canal with standard conditions

Curt Lindley, water master for the canal company, told commissioners the project completes a section previously filled and that work is paused pending coordination with the Bureau of Reclamation on federal land crossings (SEG 741–756). Lindley said the canal company owns the land under its canal in many locations, reducing parcel legal‑interest complications.
Commissioners asked about impacts where the pipeline crosses federal land and local road crossings. Staff noted requirements for temporary construction management plans and coordination with power and utility providers where outages or relocations may be needed. The County recorded a voice vote approving the CUP; the transcript records the motion, a second, an affirmative voice vote and the chair’s announcement that the motion carried (SEG 804–818).
Next steps: The applicant must provide the required stormwater analysis, a noxious‑weed management plan and the other standard construction and mitigation plans listed in staff’s conditions before final approvals are recorded.
