Natchitoches Parish planning commission approves four plats, sets zoning request for hearing

The Natchitoches Parish planning commission opened its meeting, approved the minutes and unanimously approved four subdivision plats, then referred a zoning amendment for Psalms Christian Academy to a public hearing.

The commission first amended the agenda to "reword exhibit number 1 to remove 'starting a business' and insert 'for the purpose of correcting the survey of the property'" and to remove Exhibit 5 after the applicant withdrew, a change the board approved by unanimous roll call.

Commissioners then approved minutes of a prior meeting after a motion and second. The body considered four plats in sequence: a resurvey of Lot A in the Cook Watson in Brazil subdivision (parcel 0010080300) at 181 Beechwood Lane, Maxis; a 2.9-acre subdivision proposed by Francis and Delbert Jones (partial 0010234431) at 1199 Shady Grove Road, Natchitoches; a 1.128-acre partition for Edward Lanham (partial 0050110400); and a four-tract partition for Bill McCausland (partial 0010034600) at 858 Highway 504, Nydays. For each item the presenter said required signatures and access were in order, a motion to approve the plat "as submitted" was made and seconded, and the commission approved each by roll call.

Speaker 1, who spoke from the floor about the first plat, noted a neighbor had already resurveyed the property and had obtained the necessary signatures: "This is my next door neighbor, and he bought the property adjacent to him ... he's gotten the signatures," the speaker said.

All four plat approvals were recorded as carried by roll call votes. The commission also provided administrative guidance to applicants about filing documents and contact procedures.

The meeting then continued to preliminary matters before the item on the Psalms Christian Academy zoning amendment was introduced and moved to a public hearing. The commission adjourned after completing the listed business.
