Mesa '0Jan. 26, 2026'0— CliftonLarsonAllen partner Jean Dietrich presented the results of the audit of the city's financial statements for the year ended June 30, 2025, reporting a clean, unmodified opinion and no findings of fraudulent transactions or material weaknesses.
Dietrich said the auditors evaluated management estimates and found them reasonable, noted two non-material adjusting entries, and reported no deficiencies in internal control or financial reporting to disclose to the council. "All your financial statement disclosures were determined neutral, consistent, and clear," she told the council.
Council moved and unanimously approved acceptance of the annual comprehensive financial report. Councilmembers asked for clarification on terms like "material weakness" and "significant deficiency," and audit staff explained the difference for the public.
The acceptance preserves the city's financial reporting status and keeps the process on track for required deadlines and awards such as the Government Finance Officers Association certificate of excellence.
