Terre Haute Council tables two items to Feb. 5 and opens Human Relations Commission applications

At its Jan. 8 meeting the Terre Haute City Council took several procedural actions: it voted to table General Ordinance 13-20-25 (amendments to designate outdoor refreshment areas) until the Feb. 5 meeting to allow further consultation with affected businesses; it also voted to table Resolution 1-20-26, which would authorize submission of the 2026 annual consolidated plan, to Feb. 5 at staff request.
City Attorney Michael Wright explained the reasoning for tabling the ordinance so staff could confer with businesses and stakeholders. Councilperson DeBond moved to table General Ordinance 13-20-25 and the motion carried by voice vote. Councilperson Nation moved to table Resolution 1-20-26 and that motion also carried.
Council also received a resignation from the Human Relations Commission, voted to open the application process, set the application closing date as Jan. 30, and directed the clerk to post the vacancy on the city website and in the newspaper.
