Rick Anderson, representing Johnson Controls, told commissioners Jan. 21 that his firm prepared plans and an advertisement to solicit design/contracting for upgrades to the old City Hall and the courthouse. Anderson said geothermal potential at the courthouse could deliver significant federal and lifecycle benefits but requires coordination and upfront investment. Commissioners said they would convene joint meetings with the county council and other stakeholders to weigh costs and benefits, and staff planned follow-up presentations with more detailed cost estimates and cash-flow models.
No formal contract award or appropriation was made at the meeting; commissioners discussed next steps and invited Johnson Controls to attend future meetings to answer questions.
