Those items were accepted and placed on file and referred to the finance committee.
The council also considered a $2,976.75 request to pay prior-year unpaid bills. Councilor Farwell moved to suspend the rules and act on the item that evening; the motion was seconded and passed on a roll-call vote with eight councilors in the affirmative. The order to approve the prior-year bills was adopted.
The clerk summarized other items referred to finance, including two home rule petitions: one to raise the eligible age for special police officers to 70 and another to amend state authorization clarifying the chief financial officer’s duties across city and school functions. The council resolved to invite Police Chief Brenda Perez, Fire Chief Brian Nadelli and Animal Control Officer Thomas Tachiles to provide annual reports to the public safety committee, and to invite the four election commissioners to discuss election procedures.
