Castleberry ISD recognizes Community Bond Committee credited with May 2024 bond win

Castleberry ISD on Monday recognized members of its May 2024 Community Bond Committee and thanked volunteers the district said helped secure voter approval for the bond.
"Tonight, I have the honor of introducing our May 2024 Community Bond Committee," said Abby Offenbaker, the district's communications coordinator, who led the onstage recognition. She singled out Don Istook as committee chair and noted his role organizing public meetings and online outreach.
An unidentified speaker who addressed the board praised student involvement and the committee's door-to-door work. "One very impressive thing about the committee we put together was a young lady that I did not even meet until tonight and that's Aiden Carter," the speaker said, noting that students and friends walked neighborhoods and distributed flyers.
The board and district officials emphasized that the effort involved approximately 30 volunteers who canvassed and handed out materials. "We had about 30 people that walked the streets and gave out flyers," the speaker said, describing that grassroots outreach as a key part of the campaign.
Superintendent Smith Faulkner thanked committee members and singled out Istook's careful review of district information, saying he was well informed on district figures and tax rates. The board invited committee members to take a group photograph after the recognition.
The recognition was presented during the board's regular meeting; board members and district leaders said they appreciated community advocacy that supported the bond measure.
