Commission approves FDOT agreements for Pinnacle‑donated public art along State Road 7

Tim Wheat of Pinnacle described the donation of three stainless‑steel companion sculptures by artist Clayton Swartz titled Joy Through Music, to be installed at locations near Johnson Street and the linear park on State Road 7 and on the west elevation of Pinnacle 441 Phase 2. City staff explained that one piece will be mounted to the west‑facing wall and the other pieces will be placed in city rights‑of‑way; because two pieces sit in FDOT right‑of‑way the city must execute a maintenance memorandum of agreement and an aesthetic feature agreement with FDOT to allow installation and ongoing upkeep.
Vice Mayor Quintana and other commissioners emphasized the public‑art benefits and asked about related roadway and warranty concerns on Johnson Street. Pinnacle representatives said they are honoring continuing warranty obligations and that minor road dips caused by development work will be addressed under the contractor’s warranty and engineering approvals. Commissioner Calari and others praised the musical theme that complements local landmarks.
Both resolutions (the FDOT maintenance MOA amendment and the community aesthetic features agreement) were moved and passed without objection.
Next steps: the city will execute the agreements with FDOT, coordinate final installation logistics and ensure maintenance responsibilities are documented in the MOA.
