Forensic center construction proceeding on schedule and under budget, county staff says

County facilities director reported that the Rutherford County Regional Forensic Center is under construction (site work ~80%, exterior sheathing ~90%, MEP roughly 50%), with a $480,000 contingency remaining and biweekly OAC oversight requested by the mayor.
Director Dodd told the commission that the Rutherford County Regional Forensic Center construction is making steady progress and is currently under budget. He reported that site work is roughly 80% complete, stormwater-retention ponds are about 90% complete, exterior sheathing is about 90% complete and mechanical/plumbing/electrical rough-ins are approximately 50% complete. The architect and general contractor have agreed to additional owner-architect-contractor (OAC) oversight meetings at the mayor's request.
"Our design and construction contingency remains at $480,000," Director Dodd said. He reported no new change orders and said supplier procurement is finalized, which reduces the risk of budget overruns or schedule delays. He also gave a multiyear look-ahead that includes roof completion steps and interior wall layout and administrative/lab area work.
Commissioners asked for a clearer capital and operations picture for upcoming budget cycles. Staff said they would provide additional cost breakdowns (including soft costs and operational estimates) at the next meeting to help the commission prioritize projects during the budget season.
The commission moved to approve the facilities maintenance report and thanked Director Dodd for the update.
