TALLAHASSEE — On Jan. 29 the Florida House Rules Committee adopted a special order letter governing time allocations for the Feb. 4, 2026 legislative session and reminded members of the amendment filing deadlines.
Chair Garrison told members the negotiated time allocations for questions and debate on bills on special order were included with the letter on members' desks and, with no public testimony or debate, the committee adopted the special order letter. The chair recorded "6 say yay" during the voice vote and announced the special order letter as adopted.
Chair Garrison also reminded members of filing deadlines: main amendments must be submitted to House bill drafting by 3:00 p.m. and approved for filing by 4:00 p.m.; hearing amendments must be submitted to House bill drafting by 6:30 p.m. and approved for filing by 7:00 p.m. The chair noted the amendment deadline for Wednesday's session is Friday.
The adopted special order letter sets the procedural framework for debate on Feb. 4 and establishes the timeline members must meet to have amendments accepted for consideration that day.
