Committee moves two appointments and a firefighters parental-leave ordinance amendment to February

By consent the committee moved two appointment proposals (Evan Sharon and Robert Hammerly) and deferred Proposal 16-20-26 (adding a firefighters parental-leave section, 25-3-10) to give stakeholders additional time to confer and to return at the February committee meeting.

Proposal 3-75-2025 (appoint Evan Sharon to the juvenile detention advisory board) and Proposal 9-20-26 (reappoint Robert Hammerly to the Marion County Public Defender's Board) were not on hand; councilors agreed by consent to move both items to the committee’s February meeting.
Later the chair introduced Proposal 16-20-26 to amend the code by adding a firefighters parental-leave section (new section 25-3-10). Councilor Brown requested the firefighters be given additional time to consult with administration and counsel; by unanimous consent the committee moved the proposal to February as well.
These procedural moves were recorded by voice consent; no formal roll-call votes or amendments were recorded in the transcript. The proposals will return to the committee with stakeholders present for further discussion.
