Philadelphia City Council honors LaSalle College High School after state football title

Philadelphia City Council recognized LaSalle College High School on Jan. 29 for winning the 2025 PIAA Class 6A state football championship (Dec. 6, 2025). Councilmember Dr. Anthony Phillips introduced a privileged resolution honoring the school’s academic and athletic traditions and noting the 34–20 victory over Pittsburgh Central Catholic at Chapman Field.
Dr. Phillips described LaSalle’s influence on his life and public service, noting mentors and alumni who supported his career. Head coach Brett Gordon thanked the council and said the program “is super proud of this group,” and he expressed appreciation for the honor extended to students, coaches and alumni. The resolution directs that an engrossed copy be presented to LaSalle College High School as evidence of the council’s admiration.
The presentation included recognition of student seniors and alumni present at the podium and ran as a ceremonial item before the day’s calendar business. The resolution will be recorded in the official journal and an engrossed copy prepared for the school.
